I'm an effects artist working in the game industry — but before that, I spent years living abroad as a foreigner myself.
During that time, I dealt with housing struggles, visa headaches, and moments of discrimination that I wasn't prepared for. What got me through it was the kindness of people around me who were willing to help. That experience never left me.
KoreaConnect started from that feeling — the loneliness and lack of information that comes with living somewhere that isn't home.
As Korean culture has grown globally through K-food, K-pop, and beyond, more and more people are falling in love with Korea and choosing to live here. Communities like Reddit and Facebook groups are full of people who genuinely want to help — but I felt there was still a gap when it came to practical, reliable information in one place.
I still have a full-time job, so I can't promise how far this will go. But my hope is simple: that KoreaConnect becomes a place where anyone navigating life in Korea — whether you just arrived or have been here for years — can find real answers and real people who understand what you're going through.
